Replanting Our Front Yard
As our community knows, recent road widening projects have drastically altered the landscape at the front of our school. But it’s also given us a blank slate to design a space that reflects our values.
This year, our goal is restoring our front yard back into a vibrant living classroom where students can learn, explore, and connect with nature. Your generosity will help us bring it to life with new trees, gardens, and natural spaces for students to grow and thrive.
The Annual Fund
A common question we hear is, “Why do you ask for donations on top of tuition?” It’s a great question with a simple answer: Tuition keeps DGS running, but the Annual Fund keeps us growing.
While tuition covers our day-to-day operations on a well managed budget, the Annual Fund is our safety net and our springboard for growth. By pooling contributions from our families, we build a fund that protects us from the unexpected and allows us to invest the overflow directly into our community.
This is what helps us keep our tuition among the lowest in the area while allowing families to make tax-deductible contributions that support our mission.

The Three Buckets
The Annual Fund is allocated across three "buckets", with the overflow from each bucket filling the next:
This is our safety net. It protects our core operations if a family is unexpectedly unable to meet their tuition obligation. It ensures critical line items like teacher salaries and utilities are always funded.
This bucket gives us the flexibility to address unexpected needs, from a new furnace to emergency roof repairs, without financial strain.
This is where the fun begins! Once the first two buckets are full, these funds allow us to dream big and fund a single, transformative project. This year, we are rallying to restore our front yard.
