Lower Elementary News


Thanks to all of you who were able to attend our Curriculum Night. If you were not able to attend, I look forward to talking with you soon during parent-teacher conferences on February 28th and answer any questions you might have. Our busy work cycles continue with many lessons and projects in all areas. The Montessori curriculum for this level is a three year cycle in scope and sequence, th the importance of three years in lower elementary. Thank you for your continued support and feedback.

Spanish groups are working on ordinal numbers and building vocabulary each Monday with Ms. Adriana. Lessons include games, songs and conversation.

Our continuing study of human body systems included lessons on the circulatory system. We learned facts about the heart, blood and staying healthy through diet and exercise. We filled containers to show the amount of blood in our bodies. We poured the amount of "blood" for an adult, an elementary-age child, and a newborn baby.



Metal inset work shows great refinement of fine motor skills. The designs and combinations of geometric shapes are beautiful.

Assisting one another and giving lessons during cooking projects is all part of our cooking and food prep each week. Kitchen science includes: measuring, using tools, following recipe instructions and developing independence in the kitchen.
