We have embryonic action happening this week! After candling our chicken eggs, students discovered that only three eggs showed no development. These eggs were most likely infertile. Observations of embryonic development within an egg were initially done using a candle, thus the term candling. In celebration of the fun process of egg candling, students learned about the history of candles - starting with torches and leading to our modern-day wicked candles. Next week students will create hand-dipped candles before it gets too cold.
