Tales from the Loft - Art and Books

Dear Readers,

Students recently finished our origin themed novels, and their final projects showed such creativity and intention. While a few students chose to write short stories, many chose to create a piece of artwork. I am sharing the artwork here, but I encourage families to ask their student to read them their story if they wrote one. It was engaging to see how they interpreted the writing prompts. The three options within the reading groups included:

  1. Graffiti Art - Research this style of art and design a poster for the book project in the same vein.

  2. Recycled Art Sculptures - Use materials on hand; you may not buy anything, but our makerspace is accessible.

  3. Creative writing - Write a story in connection with the novel.

All of the novels included folk tales within the main storyline, so students created an element from one of the folk tales from their particular novel. Such a fun ending to our small group reading assignment!
