Upper El, Week of December 9th

Despite the excitement over our upcoming break, students have been working hard on our many projects. Our hard work was balanced with creativity in the form of drama, weaving, and crafting.

Students are on track to wrap up projects and assignments before we celebrate on Friday and break until the new year!

In reading, we continue our study of realistic fiction. In writing, we've been having a blast with our journalism unit. We're also almost finished composing our responses to our Maine pen-pals. In social studies, we are continuing to learn about the Age of Exploration, and in science, we began our study of fossils. Students are also working to commit to their science fair project plans prior to heading out on break. Many students will conduct their experiments and collect data over winter break. Please check in with your child about their science fair plans!

See below for this week's newsletter. It includes the hot cocoa fixings that your child signed up to bring, as well as important dates coming up in January.

We will NOT be walking to the library tomorrow, so please check on the books that your child may have, and be sure to return those by their due dates.

I'm looking forward to our last week together in 2019! Hope to see you at Jennifer's this Friday!
