On Thursday, February 27th, Upper El took a field trip to the Historic Latta Plantation! They enjoyed a program on the "times and lives of soldiers in the American Revolution."
Students had the opportunity to discuss the political, social, and military aspects of the war. Students dressed up in replica soldier uniforms and witnessed the loading and firing of a Brown Bess Musket, used by the British as well as American Patriots. The class had fun learning how to march to orders while wearing their tricorn hats!
The class also learned to hand dip candles and toured the farm animals.
While it was a chilly day and temperatures were low, morale was high, and we all had a blast! We stopped by the Nature Center on our way out. Please enjoy the pictures below.
