Discovery in the woods

Ladybug larva found in the woods.
Ladybug larva found in the woods.

We are currently studying insects in our Primary classroom. We learned about the life cycle of the ladybug. We discovered that ladybugs love to lay their eggs on the back of Poplar Tree leaves. The eggs are under the leaf and then they eat and eat and eat and become the ladybug larva. This ladybug larva looks like a space alien. When the larva is large, it will begin to transform into the pupa. During the pupa stage, the ladybug looks closer to an actual adult ladybug. Here a several photos of all the ladybug eggs, larva, and pupa we have found.
