Fall Equinox Celebration

This week our DGS community celebrated the fall equinox.   Traditionally this is a time of gratitude for the harvest as summer comes to a close and a time to remember the balance in nature as the hours of night and day are equal.

We celebrated by singing songs, sharing origin stories students created, and reflecting on the gifts that we receive from the Earth.  We discussed the balance of giving and receiving and ways that we can give back to the earth for all the gifts that we receive. This list included composting and efforts in environmental protection.  There was a feeling of pride among everyone as we acknowledged how the Global Climate Strike we participated in was a gift our community gave the earth. Being voices for nature when many are forgetting to listen.
