Finding Balance Through the Fall Equinox

This week in mindfulness, our community reflected on the Fall Equinox, a natural moment of balance. As the days and nights stand equal in length, we are reminded that nature is preparing to slow down as winter approaches. All beings move in rhythm with the cycles of nature, and when we allow ourselves to honor those rhythms, we often discover greater harmony and balance within ourselves.

Just as our bodies are always working toward balance, or homeostasis, our minds and emotions also need support in finding steadiness. Balance does not always happen on its own; it is something we can intentionally cultivate by pausing, noticing what we need, and choosing practices that help us return to center.

I invited students in upper and middl to consider:

  • Where in their lives they might feel out of balance.

  • What supportive practice could they begin, or what might they release that would help bring them back into balance?

This reflection connects beautifully to the 8 C’s of Self-Belonging, reminding us that when we are out of balance, we often feel less grounded in those qualities.

Whether through reflection, movement, art, or quiet moments of pause, balance is a gift we can all cultivate together.
